AURORA BOREALIS,CANADA

Thank you For wishing me birthday my friend ROB .

Northern CANADA is one of the world's best places to view the light display also known as "northern lights". We owe the spectacular phenomenon to the collision of charged particles directed by the earth's magnetic field, green hues are most common and are produced when oxygen atoms are involved.

Thanks to LYNDAC for the postcard , sent 31 july 2013.

Canada is a North American country located between the United States to the south and the Arctic Circle to the north. The main cities are Toronto, Vancouver, the center of West Coast cinema, Montreal and Quebec City, both French-speaking, and Ottawa, the capital. Canada's vast wilderness includes Banff National Park with its many lakes in the Rocky Mountains. It is also home to the famous and majestic Niagara Falls.

    Aboriginal peoples and communities

Canada's aboriginal people are the original occupants of the land that is now Canada and their             descendants. Recent archaeological digs have revealed remains dating back 30,000 years. Some of         these peoples would have reached the continent by crossing the Bering Strait from Eastern Siberia in      Asia to Alaska.

A sundog is what happens when sunlight hits ice crystals in the Earth’s atmosphere, and scatters the light.

It creates the illusion of two different, smaller suns beside the sun — with rings around them. It’s a rare meteorological phenomenon, especially when the ring is full.

NIAGARA FALLS

NIAGARA FALLS
This card sent on  4,March 2013 by Maria . Thank you so much .

Niagara Falls was formed starting more than 12,000 years ago at the end of the Ice Age when large torrents of water were released from the melting ice, draining into the Niagara River. The water plunged over the edge of the Niagara Escarpment – to what is now known as Lewiston, NY. Eventually, the force of the water wore away the rock layers and Niagara Falls moved upstream, reaching its present location. Year after year, the formation continues with the annual freezing and thawing of the Niagara River, along with gradual erosion and periodic rock-falls. Remedial work has been completed to preserve the Falls and the volume of water has been reduced by diversion for hydroelectric power..

Vancouver is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It is also often praised for its living environment that combines modern urban elements with breathtaking natural spaces. The city is the gateway to Canada's great outdoors, which stretches from the Pacific coast to the Pacific Ranges.

Canada Place is located on the waterfront, flanked by cruise ship terminals on either side. The building houses an international business center and convention center that regularly features interesting art and cultural exhibits.
