RAPA NUI ISLA DE PASCUA EASTER ISLAND CHILIE

Thank you so much CAROLINA for the nice card . sent on MAY  2013.

Easter Island is located in the southeast Pacific Ocean. It was discovered in the 18th century. The famous giants of Easter Island are hundreds of monoliths that were carved and lined up in a quarry on the island .

The statues of Easter Island dedicated to ancestral cults ,these are human-shaped giants that turn their backs to the ocean. They were probably used to celebrate the gods of the Easter Island population. Many statues have not been finished and remain unfinished in the quarries.

Canada

Thanks to LYNDAC for the postcard , sent 31 july 2013.

Canada is a North American country located between the United States to the south and the Arctic Circle to the north. The main cities are Toronto, Vancouver, the center of West Coast cinema, Montreal and Quebec City, both French-speaking, and Ottawa, the capital. Canada's vast wilderness includes Banff National Park with its many lakes in the Rocky Mountains. It is also home to the famous and majestic Niagara Falls.

    Aboriginal peoples and communities

Canada's aboriginal people are the original occupants of the land that is now Canada and their             descendants. Recent archaeological digs have revealed remains dating back 30,000 years. Some of         these peoples would have reached the continent by crossing the Bering Strait from Eastern Siberia in      Asia to Alaska.

HAWAII

Thank you CONNIE for theis amzing shot of HAWAII , sent 03 JUN 2013.

The Hawaiian Islands, the latest of the great Pacific archipelagos to be discovered (Cook, 1778), are as original in their physical aspects (a climate very favorable to man, enormous basaltic volcanoes such as Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa, the largest active volcano in the world) as they are in their history, in the diversity of their population, and in their remarkable economic prosperity based on their integration into the United States, of which they have been the fiftieth (and only non-continental) state since 1959. The Hawaiian Islands, with a population of little more than one million, occupy a considerable geopolitical position at the beginning of the 21st century and are asserting themselves both as the nodal point of American influence in the Pacific and as a cultural bridge between East and West.

RECOLETA,BUENOS AIRES

I owe you a very special thank you  my friend CAROLINA.

This card from Argentina BUENOS AIRES sent September 2014

Buenos Aires is often referred to as the Paris of Latin America, and this is certainly due to the architecture of this neighborhood. With its typical buildings, its wide avenues in the style of the Champs-Élysées, walking in Recoleta is a bit like being in Paris.
